The above video was shot using a Canon PowerShot G9
This is a simple modification I did to the Beauty Dish to turn it into a diffused light dish.
- I took out the center reflector
- cut the diffusion material to cover the front of the dish
- marked and cut notches into the diffusion material to match the notches cut into the dish
- inserted new zip ties into the notches of the diffusion material
- attached the diffusion material to the dish using the zip ties
- Done!

thank you, michael. i found this through a link i found through another link – you know how it goes, right? any chance you could post some images taken using this? again, thanks for the tutorial and this mod.
I will be posting some sample in a little while. With my switch to Nikon I should have an Nikon SB800 flash soon and I’ll be doing a shoot specific to the light mods I have made. I just hope my I won’t have to re build the beauty dish to fit that flash
