D300 is a nice choice, I have used the D200 and it is a great camera. The D80 is basically the D200 with a few added digi-programs and a loss of Lens Metering on older lenses. Which is a bit of a bummer as I shot with quite a few older primes which do not have current day options, but the D200 at the time was way to pricey.

Don't tell anyone, but I'm switching to Nikon in the next few weeks (D300) from Canon. I'm keeping the G9, but the Canon 10D is heading out the door!

I already have a D80, so this would be my third body (well second, as I would replace my much older 2.1MP P&S). For the times when carrying a larger DSLR is not practical.

The G9 is a wonderful camera. I have mine ready to go all the time. I have taken it on day long backcountry ski tours. The photos and videos from that thing are fabulous. I use it to create my video posts (still working on getting better at that). I even did a quick 5 min. shoot with it for a client, and they were ecstatic with the results. I even plan on taking the camera mountain biking (we'll see how it survives that kind of abuse - I crash quite a bit).

I tell people, "The longer you wait to get a camera, the less time you have to use that camera." In other words, stop waiting and start shooting!

Yeah I've looking at getting a G9 for a long time, I'm afraid if I wait any longer I'll be pinning the G10.
